It is a series of three modules (Turning Inward, TurningOutward, Turning to Action) designed to help educators to engage a range of anti-bias, multicultural and social justice issues and provide them with strategies and tools to help their learners understand, appreciate, include, and advocate for those around them.Turning Inward: This takes teachers on an authentic exploration and reflection of their own background and experience with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). We cannot help others until we have taken this journey ourselves.Turning Outward: This gives teachers the tools and actionable steps needed to implement DEI practices in the classroom and make them sustainable. This course can be smoothly implemented through easy-to-follow activities and ideas. It gives teachers the confidence to have crucial conversations, with scenarios and examples of how to handle DEI moments when they come up.Turning to Action: This supports teachers and students to understand where and how they can get involved and impact their environment through allyship and activism.

Learning outcomes

  1. Explore one's own diversity and identity
  2. Understand how privilege, bias and prejudice feed into education and interactions with students
  3. Create space in the curricula to include DE&I topics
  4. Help students self-reflect to explore their identity, sense of belonging and how they feel seen by others
  5. Teach or talk about increasingly complex topics as students build on the foundational DE&I knowledge they learn
